Reverend Parris, now in fear for his life, admits to Deputy Governor Danforth that his money has been stolen, and some of the girls have fled on a ship with it. |

John has signed the confession, but balks and pleads when told it will be nailed to the church door. |

It is morning, and time for the hangings. John has torn up his confession, and comforts Elizabeth as Rebecca is led to the gallows. Reverend Hale stands in shock at all that has transpired. |
